Working Hours Threshold Alerts

Working Hours Threshold Alerts in Ontraccr

Ontraccr provides a built-in system to notify users who remain clocked in beyond a predefined number of hours. This helps teams prevent excessive shifts, minimize timesheet errors, and avoid missed clock-outs. This article explains how to configure working hours thresholds, who receives alerts, and how repeat notifications work.

🎯 What Is a Working Hours Threshold?

A working hours threshold defines the maximum number of continuous hours a user can be clocked in before they receive a clock-out reminder.

For example:

  • If the threshold is set to 10 hours
  • A user clocked in for 10+ hours will begin receiving alerts to clock out

📌 Ontraccr does not force a clock-out — it sends reminders only.

📍 Where to Set Thresholds

Threshold settings are configured in:

Settings → Notifications

There, you can:

  • Enable or disable Hours Threshold Alerts
  • Set the number of hours (e.g., 10)
  • Enable repeat alerts and define the repeat interval

🔁 Repeat Alert Configuration

If enabled, users will receive ongoing reminders at a set interval until they clock out.

Available repeat intervals:

  • Every 1 hour
  • Every 2 hours
  • Every 3 hours

🔔 Example: If threshold is 10 hours and interval is 2 hours, the user will be reminded at 10h, 12h, 14h, etc.

📩 How Are Alerts Delivered?

  • Email: Sent to the user’s Ontraccr-registered email address
  • Push notification (if using the mobile app and push is enabled)

❗If the user doesn’t have an email or hasn’t enabled push notifications, they will not receive these alerts.

🧠 Use Case Example

You configure a 10-hour threshold for field workers:

  • A worker clocks in at 7:00 AM but forgets to clock out
  • At 5:00 PM (10 hours later), Ontraccr sends them a “Reminder to Clock Out”
  • If repeat reminders are enabled, they’ll continue receiving emails every hour until they take action

This prevents inflated hours and helps ensure time card accuracy.

🔐 Who Can Configure Thresholds?

Only users with access to Settings > Notifications (typically Admins) can:

  • Enable or disable threshold alerts
  • Set the hour value
  • Configure the reminder interval

📌 Summary

Working hours threshold alerts in Ontraccr offer a hands-off way to protect against long or forgotten shifts. With customizable intervals and reminder delivery, it helps keep your time data accurate — while keeping users informed and accountable.
