Ontraccr allows you to automatically create new customers through built-in automations and form interactions. This article explains every scenario where a customer profile can be dynamically generated without manually opening the Add Customer slider.


🔁 Ways Customers Can Be Auto-Created

1. Board Automations

Certain board-level automations allow customer creation during specific events:

📌 Automation Types:

  • Create Customer and/or Project when a Card is Created
  • Create Customer and/or Project on Status Change

🧭 Example:

If a card is added to a board with this automation active, and the automation is configured to create a customer, a new customer profile is automatically created behind the scenes.


2. Choose One or More Dropdown Field in Forms or Boards

When using a Choose One or More field tied to customers, users have the option to add a new customer directly from the dropdown:

🪄 How it Works:

  • In a form or board card, the dropdown shows existing customers.
  • A user clicks Add Customer from the dropdown.
  • This opens the Add Customer slider, allowing on-the-spot creation.
  • Once submitted, the new customer is saved to your database.

🧠 Bonus:

If that form or card is submitted with a new customer selected, the customer is created and linked automatically.

  • Teams building boards for intake or dispatch workflows can auto-generate customers as part of the process.
  • Field staff submitting forms with dynamic customer selections can create new contacts on the fly without admin access.

🛠️ Permissions & Behavior

  • The Add Customer slider uses the same required fields as the manual method (Name and Division).
  • Optional fields (labels, addresses, etc.) can be filled out if desired, but are not mandatory.
