Managing Inventory Locations in Ontraccr
📄 Managing Inventory Locations in Ontraccr
Inventory Locations in Ontraccr let you define physical places where materials are stored, delivered, or consumed. These are critical for teams managing material flows across jobsites, warehouses, and depots.
🧭 Where to Access Inventory Locations
- Go to Settings.
- Click Locations (separate from Buckets or Labels).
📦 What Inventory Locations Are Used For
Inventory Locations are linked directly to the Materials module and are used to:
- Track where materials are stored or used
- Assign materials to a specific location
- Filter inventory logs by site or depot
🛠️ How to Add a New Location
- In the Locations screen, click Add (+).
- Enter the location name (e.g., “Main Warehouse”, “Downtown Site”, “Unit 5A”).
- Save the location.
This makes it selectable when working with materials.
📍 Linking Locations to Materials
When managing materials:
- Scroll to the bottom of the material profile
- You’ll see a “Locations” mapping section
- Select which of the previously created locations apply
This step links material quantities to physical places.
💡 Real-World Example
You're tracking insulation rolls used across two active sites:
- Add “Warehouse A” and “Site 12” as locations
- Link those locations to the material “R-30 Insulation”
- Ontraccr now shows where stock is available, consumed, or transferred
✅ Tips and Edge Cases
- Locations Must Exist First: You can’t map a location to a material unless it’s already created.
- Not Tied to Buckets: These are not the same as custom Buckets like “Locations”—this is a dedicated, system-level tool for inventory.
- Useful for Reporting: Helps with physical audits, replenishment tracking, and project-specific usage.
