Timeline Tab in Board Cards: Full Card Activity Log

🕓 Timeline Tab in Board Cards: Full Card Activity Log

Overview

The Timeline Tab provides a complete, chronological log of everything that has happened to a board card. It tracks status changes, field edits, form submissions, task updates, and more — offering a full audit trail of activity for every card.

🎯 Why Use the Timeline Tab?

Use it to:

  • Review who did what and when
  • Trace a card’s progress across statuses
  • Investigate delays or miscommunications
  • Maintain a permanent record of all card actions

🧩 What’s Logged in the Timeline Tab?

  • Card creation (including how it was created — manually, workflow, or form)
  • Status changes (e.g., "Moved to Ready for Review")
  • Field edits (with before-and-after values)
  • Task creations, completions, and changes
  • Card color updates
  • Assignment changes (added or removed users)

🔍 Using the Timeline Tab

  1. Open a board card
  2. Click the “Timeline” tab
  3. Review the list of time-stamped events
    • Most recent actions are listed at the top
    • Each entry includes:
      • Timestamp
      • User who performed the action
      • Action taken
      • Details of what changed

✅ No manual input is required — everything is logged automatically.

✅ Example Use Case

  • A card for “Equipment Request – Boom Lift” goes through:
    • Card created via form
    • Status changed from “Pending” to “Approved”
    • Assigned to site supervisor
    • Card color changed to green
  • Timeline captures every one of these steps, with exact time and user details

🧠 Tips & Edge Cases

  • Timeline is read-only and cannot be edited, making it ideal for compliance
  • Task and form actions logged here are separate from their own tabs, providing redundancy
  • Use timeline reviews during handoffs, audits, or incident reviews
  • If you're ever unsure about when something happened, this tab is your source of truth
