Tasks Tab in Board Cards: Manual & Automated Task Management
✅ Tasks Tab in Board Cards: Manual & Automated Task Management
Overview
The Tasks Tab inside each board card shows all tasks tied to that card — whether created manually or generated by workflows. It helps teams manage work within the context of the card, and gives assignees and collaborators a centralized view of what's been done and what still needs action.
🎯 Why Use the Tasks Tab?
Use it to:
- Assign follow-up actions to users
- Create structured steps for a process tied to a card
- Track tasks created by status-change automations
- See a full task list, status, due dates, and ownership for each card
🧩 How It Works
- Open a board card
- Click the “Tasks” tab at the top
- You’ll see all tasks related to that card, with:
- Task title
- Assignee(s)
- Due date
- Priority
- Status (To Do, In Progress, Done)
Tasks can be:
- Manually added right from the Tasks Tab
- Auto-created by workflows (e.g., “Create Task When Card Enters a Status”)
➕ How to Add a Manual Task
- Click the Add Task button
- Fill out:
- Task Title (required)
- Description (optional)
- Assigned User(s)
- Due Date
- Priority
- Status (defaults to “To Do”)
- Attach a Form (optional)
- Reminder Settings (optional)
- Click Submit — the task will now appear in the card’s Tasks Tab and in the assignee’s My Tasks list.
✅ Example Use Case
- A project manager opens a card for “Site Prep – Lot 17”
- In the Tasks Tab, they manually add:
- “Schedule Locates” (assigned to office coordinator)
- “Verify Access Route” (assigned to foreman)
- A workflow also auto-creates a task: “Submit Pre-Work Inspection Form”
- All tasks are now visible on the card for full visibility
🧠 Tips & Edge Cases
- Completed tasks remain visible for full traceability
- Tasks created by workflows will include a reference to the triggered status
- You can use task templates for common repeatable actions
- Forms attached to tasks can be launched and submitted directly from the task
