Tasks Tab in Board Cards: Manual & Automated Task Management

āœ… Tasks Tab in Board Cards: Manual & Automated Task Management

Overview

The Tasks Tab inside each board card shows all tasks tied to that card — whether created manually or generated by workflows. It helps teams manage work within the context of the card, and gives assignees and collaborators a centralized view of what's been done and what still needs action.

šŸŽÆ Why Use the Tasks Tab?

Use it to:

  • Assign follow-up actions to users
  • Create structured steps for a process tied to a card
  • Track tasks created by status-change automations
  • See a full task list, status, due dates, and ownership for each card

🧩 How It Works

  1. Open a board card
  2. Click the ā€œTasksā€ tab at the top
  3. You’ll see all tasks related to that card, with:
    • Task title
    • Assignee(s)
    • Due date
    • Priority
    • Status (To Do, In Progress, Done)

Tasks can be:

  • Manually added right from the Tasks Tab
  • Auto-created by workflows (e.g., ā€œCreate Task When Card Enters a Statusā€)

āž• How to Add a Manual Task

  1. Click the Add Task button
  2. Fill out:
    • Task Title (required)
    • Description (optional)
    • Assigned User(s)
    • Due Date
    • Priority
    • Status (defaults to ā€œTo Doā€)
    • Attach a Form (optional)
    • Reminder Settings (optional)
  3. Click Submit — the task will now appear in the card’s Tasks Tab and in the assignee’s My Tasks list.

āœ… Example Use Case

  • A project manager opens a card for ā€œSite Prep – Lot 17ā€
  • In the Tasks Tab, they manually add:
    • ā€œSchedule Locatesā€ (assigned to office coordinator)
    • ā€œVerify Access Routeā€ (assigned to foreman)
  • A workflow also auto-creates a task: ā€œSubmit Pre-Work Inspection Formā€
  • All tasks are now visible on the card for full visibility

🧠 Tips & Edge Cases

  • Completed tasks remain visible for full traceability
  • Tasks created by workflows will include a reference to the triggered status
  • You can use task templates for common repeatable actions
  • Forms attached to tasks can be launched and submitted directly from the task
