🧭 Introduction
The Equipment section of the Ontraccr mobile app helps field workers interact with job-specific equipment right from their phones. Users can view equipment details, check equipment into jobs, create maintenance tasks, and more — all without leaving the job site.
This guide walks through how the Equipment widget works and how to get the most from it.
📍 Where to Access Equipment
Tap into the Action Center
Locate the “Equipment” widget (if enabled for your role)
This section auto-populates based on the project you're currently clocked into
🛑 Pro-Tip: You can also use the camera in the Ontraccr app to scan a QR code on a piece of equipment to pull up the equipment profile automatically, and then fill out any downstream forms or actions. This requires QR codes to be set up in the Equipment page (web).
🔍 What Equipment Appears Here?
- Only equipment that is assigned to the job you're clocked into
- If this section is blank, it's likely because no equipment has been assigned to that project
🔧 Viewing Equipment Details
Tap any item in the Equipment list to view:
- Equipment name and labels
- Files (e.g. safe usage manuals)
- Associated tasks
- Existing forms and notes
🔄 Check Equipment In to a Job
- Open the equipment item
- Tap “Check In”
- Select a job from the dropdown
- Tap OK to confirm
✅ This reassigns the equipment to the selected job for proper tracking.
🧰 Create Tasks for Equipment
Need to report an issue or schedule maintenance?
From any equipment profile:
- Tap “Create Task”
- Fill in:
- Title & description
- Status (e.g., To Do, In Progress)
- Assigned user
- Due date
- Priority
- Any file or form attachments
- Tap Save
📝 Common use cases: Oil changes, safety inspections, repair requests.
✏️ Edit Equipment Profile (If Permitted)
If you have permission:
- Tap the pencil icon on the top-right of the equipment profile
- Edit the equipment's details
- Tap Save
🛑 This option only appears for users with the appropriate mobile permissions.
🗂️ Other Equipment Features
From within any equipment record, you can also:
- View or attach files
- Browse equipment-specific tasks
- Access or create forms
- Leave notes

By using the Equipment feature in the mobile app, users can:
- Instantly see and interact with the equipment at their job site
- Assign and track usage in real time
- Create maintenance or safety tasks on the go
- Keep equipment logs accurate and up to date
