📄 Customizing Project Contracts (Schedule of Values) in Ontraccr

The Project Contract customization feature lets you define and reuse standard contract structures, also known as Schedules of Values (SOVs), when setting up new projects. This helps you streamline the contracting process and eliminate manual entry of repetitive line items.

🧭 Where to Access Project Contract Templates

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click Customization.
  3. Select Project Contract from the list of customization options.

📄 What is a Schedule of Values (SOV)?

The Schedule of Values is a breakdown of the total contract amount into line items, each representing a portion of the total scope of work. In Ontraccr, you can create templates for these SOVs to apply during project creation.

🛠️ How to Create a Project Contract Template

  1. In the Project Contract section, click Add or the plus (+) icon.
  2. Give your template a descriptive name (e.g., “Base Residential Contract”).
  3. Add the relevant line items:
    • Example: Mobilization, Foundation, Framing, Electrical Rough-In, Final Inspection
  4. Each line item can include:
    • Name
    • Budgeted value
    • (Optional) Notes or details
  5. Save the template.

🧾 Applying a Contract Template to a Project

  1. When editing a project, click on the Import button → click on the Import Schedule of Value Template
  2. Select the relevant template → Click Apply
  3. All the predefined line items will populate the contract (SOV) tab within the project.

💡 Real-World Example

If every commercial job begins with the same base contract, including mobilization, permitting, site prep, etc., you can build that once and apply it with one click every time a new commercial project starts.

Tips and Edge Cases

  • Fully Editable Post-Apply: After applying a template, you can still edit or remove individual line items to suit the project’s unique needs.
  • Naming Best Practices: Use clear, descriptive names for templates so users can easily choose the correct one during project setup.
  • Preloaded Content: You can templatize your entire base contract—not just a few line items.
