🧾 Progress Page: Live Budget Tracking & Actuals in Ontraccr
📘 Overview
The Progress Page in Ontraccr is your real-time command center for job costing. It compares your budgeted values (from Step 5) to the actual costs being recorded from field activity — including labor time, materials, and equipment usage.
This page is where you monitor whether your project is staying on track financially, across every cost code and category.
📊 What You’ll See on the Progress Page
Each cost code appears in a line-item table grouped under:
- Labor
- Material
- Overhead
- Equipment
For each cost code, Ontraccr displays:
Column | Description |
---|---|
Estimated Cost | From your budget |
Estimated Hours | Only for Labor or Overhead |
Actual Cost | Pulled from time entries, materials, or equipment logs |
Actual Hours | For time-tracked cost codes |
Remaining Cost | Budgeted − Actual |
Remaining Hours | Budgeted − Actual |
% Complete | Actual ÷ Estimated (cost or hours) |
🕒 How Actuals Are Calculated
- Labor → from time entries (with cost code match + overrides)
- Material → from material usage forms (with cost codes)
- Equipment → from equipment logs (with code + rate)
- Overhead → from time entries or form-driven overhead tracking
🧠 Example
Cost code: “LAB-01: Electrical Rough-In”
| Budgeted Hours | 100 |
| Logged Time | 60 |
| Remaining Hours | 40 |
| % Complete | 60% |
If the worker wage is $50/hr, and you’ve logged 60 hours, the actual cost is $3,000.
📌 Progress Page Behavior Notes
- It only shows cost codes that have budgeted values
- It includes only codes that were added to the project during setup (Step 3)
- If no time/material/equipment has been logged, actuals = $0
- Updating cost code overrides (e.g., wage or billing) affects future entries but doesn’t retroactively recalculate actuals
📤 Export Options

🧠 Tips
- Review this page weekly to catch cost overruns early
- Sort by % Complete to identify tasks at risk
- If a cost code is fully billed but not 100% complete, it may indicate missing time/material entries
