Attachments Tab in Board Cards: Central Access to All Files

📎 Attachments Tab in Board Cards: Central Access to All Files

Overview

The Attachments Tab provides a complete view of all files associated with a board card, regardless of how they were added — whether via a form submission, task, or note. It acts as the central file repository for each card.

🎯 Why Use the Attachments Tab?

Use it to:

  • Quickly access every file tied to the card
  • Download or preview PDFs, images, or docs submitted via forms, notes, or tasks
  • Organize job-related files (e.g., photos, quotes, drawings)
  • Avoid jumping between tabs to find the right file

🧩 What’s Included in the Attachments Tab?

Any file added through the following paths will appear here:

  • Forms submitted from the card
  • Notes with file uploads
  • Tasks with attachments
  • Manual uploads to the card

Each file entry shows:

  • File name
  • Uploaded by
  • Upload source (form, task, note)
  • Upload date
  • File type
  • Download/view action

📂 Viewing & Downloading Files

  1. Open a board card
  2. Click the “Attachments” tab
  3. Click on a file to:
    • Preview (PDFs/images in-browser, when supported)
    • Download (for offline access or sharing)

✅ Files are stored permanently unless manually deleted.

✅ Example Use Case

  • A project manager uploads a permit PDF to a note on the card
  • A technician submits a form with 3 jobsite photos attached
  • A safety rep adds a task to upload a signed checklist
  • All 5 files appear in the Attachments Tab with upload context and timestamp

🧠 Tips & Edge Cases

  • All file uploads are automatically centralized here — no extra steps needed
  • Files submitted from external forms (not tied to a card) will not appear
  • For long-running cards, this tab becomes a permanent archive of documentation
  • Ideal for field photos, internal documentation, sign-offs, and regulatory files
