This article explains how to enrich your shifts with descriptions, file attachments, and assigned form templates, helping your field team stay informed, compliant, and productive.


🗒️ Description Field

Located in the Shift Slider, this field allows you to:

  • Provide written instructions
  • Add safety reminders
  • Specify tools or procedures for the job

💡 Key Details:

Supports plain text only (no formatting)

Visible to field workers in the Ontraccr mobile app or tablet

Ideal for including instructions like:

“Meet site supervisor at entrance” or “PPE required”


📎 Attachments

You can add any relevant documents to a shift, such as:

  • PDFs (e.g., permits, manuals)
  • Images (e.g., site maps, drawings)
  • Word or Excel files

📥 Where to Add:

In the Shift Slider, under the Attachments section.

📲 How They’re Used:

  • Workers can view or download attachments directly from the shift in their mobile device.
  • Useful for complex jobs requiring supporting documentation.

📄 Assigned Form Templates

You can link a specific form to a shift to ensure the right document is filled out on-site.

🧾 Examples:

  • Daily Timesheet
  • Work Order Report
  • Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Completion Sign-Off Form

🎯 Why Use It?

  • The worker won’t have to search for the form—it’s pre-attached to the shift.
  • When they open the shift, they can immediately start filling it out.

📌 How to Assign a Form to a Shift

  1. Open the Shift Slider
  2. Scroll to Form Template
  3. Select a form from the dropdown (must be pre-created in your Forms library)

⚠️ Only one form can be assigned per shift.
