📋 Creating a Board from a Default Template in Ontraccr

Overview

Ontraccr includes a library of pre-built board templates tailored to common workflows like project tracking, recruiting, and CRM. Creating a board from a template is the fastest way to get started with a fully functional board — complete with card design and pre-set statuses.

🎯 When to Use This

Use a default template when:

  • You want to get up and running quickly with a proven workflow
  • You need a board for a standard business process (e.g., hiring, purchasing)
  • You’re new to boards and want a ready-made structure to build on

🧩 How to Create a Board from a Template

  1. Click the ➕ Plus Icon next to the board title.

  2. Click the red “Import from Board Template” button.

  3. Under the dropdown labeled “Board Library,” choose a template:
    • CRM Template
    • Project Tracker Template
    • Procurement Template
    • Recruiting Template
    • Task Manager Template
  4. Review and edit:
    • Board Name: Rename the board if needed.
    • Division: Select one or more divisions the board belongs to.
    • Preview: You’ll see a preview of the card design and preloaded statuses that will be used.
  5. Click “Submit.”
Your board will be instantly created with all template settings applied.

Example Use Case

Let’s say you need a Recruiting Board:

  • Choose the Recruiting Template from the dropdown.
  • Name your board “Field Crew Hiring - Spring 2025”
  • Assign it to the “HR” division.
  • Submit — and your board comes preloaded with stages like “New Application,” “Interviewing,” “Offer Sent,” and “Hired.”

🧠 Tips & Edge Cases

  • Templates are great starting points but you can customize the board after creation — update statuses, card design, permissions, etc.
  • Only company admins and users with board creation permissions can access this feature.
  • Boards created from templates are fully editable — they don’t remain linked to the original template after creation.
