Files in the Mobile App: Upload, Navigate, and Preview Project Documents

🗂️ Files in the Mobile App: Upload, Navigate, and Preview Project Documents

🧭 Introduction

The Files feature in the Ontraccr mobile app allows mobile users to browse project folders, preview uploaded documents, and upload new files — all from their phone or tablet. Whether you're accessing safety manuals, submitting photos, or reviewing drawings, the file system mirrors the structure you see on the web.

This guide covers how to navigate, manage, and upload files using the mobile interface.

📍 Where to Access Files

There are two access paths:

1. Global File Storage:

  • Tap “More” from the bottom nav bar
  • Tap “Files”

This shows your global storage view, organized by folder.

2. Project-Specific Files:

  • Go to More → Projects → [Select Project] → Files Tab

This limits the view to only files/folders tied to that project.

📁 Navigating Files & Folders

  • Tap a folder to open it
  • Tap a file to:
    • Preview (PDFs, images, common docs)
    • Download/open with your phone’s viewer
  • Use the three-dot menu beside files or folders to:
    • Rename
    • (Future versions may include move or delete — check for updates)

📤 Uploading Files from Mobile

  1. Navigate to the folder you want to upload into
  2. Tap the upload icon or camera icon
    • 📎 Upload: Select from phone gallery/files
    • 📷 Camera: Take a live photo and upload instantly
  3. Optional: Add a description or rename the file before submitting

📌 Uploads can include photos, documents, reports, or diagrams — and will be accessible via both mobile and web instantly.
