📴 Available Offline: Accessing Boards Without Internet in Ontraccr

Overview

The Available Offline feature allows users to view and interact with boards even when they don’t have a reliable internet connection. This is especially useful for mobile users in the field, such as crews working on remote sites or in areas with poor reception.

📱 What It Does

When enabled:

  • Users can view card details and statuses without needing signal
  • They can make changes or updates, which will sync when they reconnect
  • It improves reliability for workflows in low/no connectivity zones

Note: This feature is currently in beta, and not all data types (e.g., videos/photos) may be available offline yet.

🧩 How to Enable Offline Access for a Board

  1. Open the board and click the ⚙️ Settings icon.
  2. In the Details tab, scroll to the checkbox labeled “Available Offline.”
  3. Check the box and click Submit.

✅ This board is now flagged to be downloaded for offline use on supported mobile devices.

🔍 What Gets Cached Offline?

  • Card fields and values
  • Statuses and board structure
  • Assigned users
  • Linked items (basic metadata)

❌ Media-heavy content like videos or high-resolution images may not be downloaded, depending on the device and app version.

✅ Example Use Cases

Field techs completing safety forms on-siteAllows work to continue even without data coverage

🧠 Tips & Edge Cases

  • Changes made while offline are queued and automatically synced once signal is restored
  • For best results, open the app while connected before heading offline — this ensures data is downloaded
  • If a board is not working offline as expected, check that:
    • The board has been flagged as available offline
    • The user has recently opened it in the app
    • The mobile app is up to date
