Customizing Profile Names in Ontraccr

📄 Customizing Profile Names in Ontraccr

With Profile Names Customization, you can rename key labels in the Ontraccr interface to better match your company's language or industry terminology. This helps teams feel more aligned with the tool and reduces confusion when switching from legacy systems.

🧭 Where to Access Profile Name Customization

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click Customization.
  3. Select Profile Names from the list.

🖋️ What You Can Rename

You can override the default Ontraccr terms for the following entities:

Default NameExample of Custom Replacement
Projects“Jobs” or “Field Operations”
Customers“Clients”
Project Groups“Regions” or “Work Packages”

Each field includes:

  • Original Name (read-only, default system label)
  • Editable Name (you provide the custom label)

🛠️ How to Customize Profile Names

  1. In the Profile Names screen, find the label you want to rename.
  2. Click the Edit (✏️) icon next to it.
  3. Type your desired name (e.g., change “Projects” to “Jobs”).
  4. Hit Save.

Changes are applied immediately throughout the system’s UI.

💡 Real-World Example

If your organization refers to "Projects" as "Field Ops," update the label so:

  • Side menu shows “Field Ops”
  • Project-related fields reflect the new name
  • All users experience a familiar interface

Tips and Edge Cases

  • Only Certain Items Are Re-namable: Currently limited to Projects, Customers, and Project Groups.
  • Internal Labels Still Apply: System back-end references may still use the original terms (e.g., in exports or internal settings).
  • Keep It Simple: Use short, intuitive replacements to avoid UI layout issues.
