Analytics Tab in Board Cards: Embedded Dashboards for Linked Entities
📊 Analytics Tab in Board Cards: Embedded Dashboards for Linked Entities
Overview
The Analytics Tab lets you view a custom dashboard inside a board card, pulling live data from the project, client, equipment, or user linked to that card. This gives users a snapshot of KPIs and reporting widgets without leaving the card.
🎯 Why Use the Analytics Tab?
Use this when:
- You want real-time metrics tied to a specific card’s linked entity
- You want to view project progress, safety form compliance, or cost tracking
- You need a visual summary of what's happening — without opening separate reports
- You want to embed a custom dashboard into the card experience
🧩 What the Analytics Tab Displays
When a card is linked to a project, client, user, or equipment, the Analytics Tab shows:
- A dashboard with real-time widgets (tables, charts, counts, etc.)
- Data relevant to the linked entity, not the card itself
- Only the widgets configured for that entity type in your account
✅ You’ll see a different dashboard depending on what the card is linked to.
🔗 How It Connects
The Analytics tab activates when:
- The card is linked to a record (Project, Equipment, etc.)
- A dashboard has been configured and published for that entity type
- The board is using a card design that supports the correct field link
✅ Example Use Case
- A card is linked to the “North Tower Retrofit” project
- The Analytics tab shows:
- Total hours submitted to the project
- Number of open safety forms
- Upcoming milestones
- Budget remaining
- The user gets instant visibility without leaving the card view
🧠 Tips & Edge Cases
- The dashboard is read-only inside the card — changes must be made in the Analytics module
- If the card is not linked to a supported entity, the tab will display a placeholder or be empty
- You can use different dashboards for different entity types (projects vs clients vs equipment)
- Great for field and office staff to see live insights without needing report access
