Using List View in Ontraccr Boards
📄 Using List View in Ontraccr Boards
Overview
List View offers an alternative layout to the standard card columns — displaying all your cards in a scrollable, table-style format. This view is great for users who prefer structured lists, need to compare data quickly, or want to scan through multiple cards without opening each one.
🎯 Why Use List View?
List View is perfect when you need to:
- Quickly compare details across multiple cards
- Work through cards in bulk or sequential order
- See field values without opening each card
- Drag and drop cards in a more compact layout
🧩 How to Switch to List View
- Open a board.
- Click the View dropdown near the top-right (it defaults to “Card View”).
- Select List View from the dropdown.
✅ The board will now be displayed in a vertical, spreadsheet-style list format, grouped by status.
🧰 Features Available in List View
Feature | Description |
---|---|
Drag & Drop | You can still move cards between statuses using drag-and-drop |
Field Previews | See selected card fields (like address, value, client name) at a glance |
List Index Position | Enable index numbers to show the card’s position in the list (via settings) |
Compact Layout | Great for working on smaller screens or reviewing many cards at once |
⚙️ Customizing What You See in List View
To control which fields are visible in each status column:
- Go to Board Settings > Details
- Scroll to the Statuses section
- Click the gear icon next to a status name
- Choose which card fields you want to display when cards are in that status
- Click Submit
✅ These fields will now appear in both Card View and List View when a card enters that status.
✅ Example Use Cases
Use Case | Why List View Helps |
---|---|
Project tracker | View address, project type, and value side by side |
Recruiting | Scan candidate names, roles, and review scores in one view |
Estimating | Quickly compare bid values and due dates |
Procurement | See item names, requesters, and vendor quotes in one glance |
🧠 Tips & Edge Cases
- Field previews vary by status, not globally — you can show different fields per column
- Use List Index Position to track order or triage sequence within a column
- Timeline View is better for date-based visualization — List View is best for field comparison
- You can still open and edit individual cards from List View by clicking their title
