🔢 Showing Card Numbers in Ontraccr Boards

Overview

Ontraccr lets you enable unique card numbers for every card on a board. These are automatically generated and displayed alongside the card title, making it easier to reference, track, and organize cards — especially in high-volume workflows.

🎯 Why Use Card Numbers?

Card numbers help you:

  • Create a ticketing or job number system
  • Reference cards in meetings or field conversations
  • Track cards more easily in search, filters, or reports
  • Avoid confusion when multiple cards have similar titles

🧩 How to Show Card Numbers

  1. Open your board and click the ⚙️ Settings icon.
  2. In the Details tab, scroll to the “Show Card Number” checkbox.
  3. Check the box and click Submit.

✅ All cards on that board will now show a unique number (e.g., #001, #002, etc.)

📋 Where Card Numbers Appear

  • Displayed beside or beneath the card title in all board views (Card, List, Timeline)
  • Can be used in filters, searches, and references

🧠 Tips & Edge Cases

  • Card numbers are board-specific — they don’t carry over across boards
  • You can still edit the card title — the number is added as a visual tag
  • If used consistently, card numbers make external reporting or referencing much easier
  • Combine with filters and sorting for organized tracking of jobs or issues
