Advanced Viewer OCR Search

🔎 Advanced Viewer OCR Search

The Advanced File Viewer in Ontraccr includes powerful OCR (Optical Character Recognition) search capabilities — allowing you to search inside scanned PDFs and drawings, not just text-based files.

This makes it much easier to find specific items in large, complex documents without scrolling manually.

🧠 What is OCR?

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) scans the visible content of a file and makes text in images or scanned documents searchable.

✔ You can search even if the file wasn’t originally digital or didn’t have selectable text.

📌 Example: A scanned blueprint or product spec sheet can still be searched for terms like “Item #243” or “12-gauge”.

🔍 How to Use OCR Search

  1. Open a file in the Advanced File Viewer
  2. Locate the Search bar (usually on the left panel or toolbar)
  3. Type in the word or phrase you want to find

Search Options:

  • Case Sensitive: Only matches text that matches the capitalization you typed
  • Whole Word: Only matches full words (e.g. “Item” but not “Items”)

Once you type in your term, the system will:

  • List every page where the word appears
  • Highlight the matches directly in the document
  • Allow you to click any match to jump straight to that page

🏗 Use Cases

OCR search is ideal for:

  • Construction drawings: Find a specific room, part, or material callout
  • Spec sheets: Jump to a model number or spec name
  • Large contracts or product manuals: Quickly locate a clause or component

💡 Instead of scrolling through 100+ pages, let Ontraccr find the content for you.

🔄 Works With All Common File Types

OCR search is available for:

  • Scanned PDFs
  • Drawings and plans
  • Image-based documents with printed or typed text

🧾 Summary

  • OCR lets you search inside non-editable or scanned documents
  • Available only in the Advanced File Viewer
  • Results show exact page numbers and let you jump directly to the match
  • Great for drawings, specs, and large technical documents
