Customizing Statuses (Columns) in Ontraccr Boards
🧩 Customizing Statuses (Columns) in Ontraccr Boards

Overview
Statuses are the columns in your board view — they represent the stages your cards (tasks, projects, leads, etc.) move through. Ontraccr gives you full control to add, rename, reorder, or remove these statuses to reflect your actual workflow.
🎯 When to Use This
Customize statuses when:
- You’re building a new board from scratch
 - You need to reflect a specific workflow (e.g., “New → Assigned → Completed”)
 - You want to improve clarity or efficiency in board stages

✍️ How to Add, Rename, or Delete Statuses
🔹 Add a New Status (Column)
- Open the board you want to customize.
 - Click the Settings gear icon at the top right.
 - Under the Details tab, scroll to the Statuses section.
 - Click the ➕ Add button.
 - Type your new status name (e.g., “Ready for Review”), hit Save, then Submit.

✅ The new column will now appear on your board.
🔄 Rename or Delete an Existing Status
- Hover over an existing status in the list.
 - Click the text field to rename it.
 - Click the trash icon to delete a status.
 - Hit Submit to apply your changes.

⚠️ Important: Deleting a status removes the column from the board — any cards inside that column must be reassigned first.
⚙️ Advanced: Configure Status Display Fields
Each status can show different card details in board view.
To control which fields display per status:
- In Settings > Details, locate the gear icon beside a status.
 - Click it to open the Card Display Settings.
 - Select the fields you want to show in that status column (e.g., Client Name, Bid Due Date).
 - Hit Submit.

Now, each status can show custom info without needing to open the card.
✅ Example Use Case
In a Project Tracker board, you might want statuses like:
- “Opportunity Identified”
 - “Estimate In Progress”
 - “Bid Submitted”
 - “Awarded”
 - “Active Project”
 - “Closed”

You can add all of these and configure each to show relevant info (e.g., Estimated Value in “Estimate In Progress” and Project Start Date in “Active Project”).
🧠 Tips & Edge Cases
- Statuses affect the visual flow of your process — use clear names that everyone understands.
 - You can rearrange status order by dragging them up/down in the settings list.
 - If using Timeline View, statuses help visually organize projects along start/end dates.
