Equipment Types in Ontraccr allow you to categorize different kinds of equipment and customize the information collected for each type. Each type can have its own custom profile layout, custom fields, and linked forms—giving you complete control over your equipment database.
🧭 Where to Access Equipment Types
- Go to Settings.
- Click Customization.
- Select Types, then choose Equipment from the dropdown menu at the top.
⚙️ What You Can Customize for Each Equipment Type
Each equipment type can have:
- A name (e.g., "Crane", "Trailer", "Generator")
- A custom set of sections and fields (custom profile layout)
- Linked forms that appear when viewing the equipment on the mobile app
🛠️ How to Create or Modify an Equipment Type
- In the Equipment Types section, click Add to create a new type or Edit beside an existing one.
- Enter or update the name.
- Click the section builder to create or modify custom fields:
- Examples: Serial Number, Model Year, Inspection Date
- You can include fields like text, dropdowns, numbers, attachments, etc.
- Save your changes.
📲 Linking Forms to Equipment Types (Form Mappings)
You can also specify which forms are available when viewing equipment in the mobile app.
How to Link Forms:
- In the Types > Equipment list, click the form icon next to a type.
- Select one or more forms to map to that type.
- These forms will now be available when:
- A user opens the equipment profile on mobile
- Or scans the QR code for that piece of equipment
These forms auto-fill with equipment data, making inspections and field documentation much faster.
