The Analytics Engine in Ontraccr empowers users to generate detailed, customizable reports from their Boards, Forms, and Time Cards—and surface those insights in personalized Dashboards. Whether you're tracking performance, operations, or safety compliance, this feature gives you flexible control over your reporting needs.
🚀 Where You Can Use the Analytics Engine
You can build and view analytics from three main locations in Ontraccr:
Analytics Page
Accessed from the left-hand sidebar. This is the central hub for building and editing reports across all data sources.
Boards (Per Card Level)
Every board card includes an Analytics tab. You can build card-specific reports and dashboards here.
Projects Page
Each project has its own Analytics tab, allowing you to generate project-specific dashboards and reports.
🛠 Types of Data Sources You Can Report On
Analytics can be generated using data from:
- Time Cards (e.g., hours worked)
- Boards (e.g., number of cards, status changes, conversion rates)
- Forms (e.g., safety form submissions, incident reports)
Each source supports different types of reports and breakdowns, described in detail in their respective articles.
📚 How to Navigate and Build Reports
1. Access the Analytics Page
- Click Analytics in the sidebar.
- A blank canvas will appear.
- Click the Untitled dropdown at the top to:
- View and select existing reports
- Click New Report (+) to start fresh
2. Naming and Saving a Report
- When creating a new report, click the edit pencil icon to rename the report.
- Type in a name (e.g., Time Tracking – Hours per Project) and hit Enter to save.
3. Choosing a Data Source
The first dropdown on the report builder lets you select the source:
- Time Cards
- Boards
- Forms
Each source will have its own available fields, breakdown options, and chart types.
📈 Visualizations Available
Depending on the report type and field, you can choose from the following visualizations:
- Bar Chart
- Line Chart
- Table
- Number
- Pie Chart (only available in certain contexts)
- List (available in some form field-based reports)
Some visualizations allow time-based breakdowns, like:
- By day
- By week
- By month
- By quarter
- By year
This depends on the field and report type selected.
💾 Saving and Reusing Reports
- Click Save to store a report.
- Saved reports appear in the dropdown at the top of the Analytics page.
- Reports can be embedded as widgets in custom dashboards (see the Dashboards article).

Analytics built in one area may or may not be accessible in other areas:

🔁 Editing Existing Reports
- Click on the Untitled / Report Title dropdown
- Select the report you want
- Click the Edit icon to:
- Rename the report
- Update criteria and filters
- Change chart types or breakdowns
🧠 Tips
- Use breakdown options to get more granular insights (e.g., by user, by project).
- Set custom date ranges or choose from presets like "This Week", "Last 30 Days", etc.
- You can stack multiple breakdowns (e.g., by division and user).
