Adding Items to a Bucket

➕ Adding Items to a Bucket

Once your bucket is created, you can begin populating it with entries — each representing an instance of the data you want to track (e.g. individual contracts, highway segments, etc.).

This article walks through how to manually add entries and how upstream configuration affects the fields you see.

🧭 Where to Add Items

  1. From the sidebar, click the name of the bucket you created (e.g. Contracts, Highways, etc.)
  2. You’ll see a list of items already inside this bucket (if any)

➕ How to Add a New Item

  1. Click the ➕ Add button
  2. A slider form appears

Required Field

  • Name is the only required field by default (unless you made others mandatory during setup)
    • Example: Contract A, Checkpoint 101

✍️ Fill In Optional Fields

  • Description – Optional text field
  • Customer – If the bucket was configured with a single customer upstream link, you’ll see a dropdown to select one customer
    • If it was configured with multiple customers, this field becomes a multi-select
    • If no customers were configured upstream, this field will not appear

🧩 Complete Custom Fields

All other fields and sections shown in the form depend on what you configured in the bucket’s setup (via “Add Section” and “Add Field”).

These could include:

  • Questions or text fields
  • Mandatory/optional inputs
  • Attachment uploads

⚠️ Only the fields you explicitly added to the bucket during creation will appear here.

💾 Save the Entry

  1. Complete all required fields
  2. Click Submit
  3. The item will now be listed in the database view for that bucket

📥 Optional: Importing Items via Spreadsheet

If you need to add a large number of entries:

  • Reach out to the Customer Success team at Ontraccr
  • They can assist with uploading bucket entries using a spreadsheet import

There is no self-serve upload tool mentioned — this is handled by Ontraccr’s support team.

🧾 Summary

  • Add items to a bucket from the sidebar menu linked to the bucket name
  • Click Add to open the slider form
  • You’ll always need to enter a name
  • Upstream configuration (single vs multiple customers) changes how linking fields behave
  • Custom fields and sections appear based on how you built the bucket
  • Bulk data can be added via spreadsheet by contacting Ontraccr support

Adding items is a straightforward process that adapts to the structure you defined during bucket creation.
