What Is the Field Schedule?
🛠️ Ontraccr Field Schedule: Real-Time Labor Scheduling That Works in the Real World
The Field Schedule is Ontraccr’s dedicated workspace for managing short-term, shift-based labor scheduling.
It’s purpose-built for the day-to-day coordination of field crews, service techs, and mobile teams—giving you a centralized place to assign work, attach critical job info, and keep everyone accountable.
This isn’t just a calendar. It’s a dispatch and execution hub designed around how real teams actually operate in the field.
🧭 What It’s For
The Field Schedule is designed to help you:
- Assign shifts to individual users or teams
- Track who’s working where, when, and on what
- Attach important shift details (project, cost code, documents, forms)
- Send automated shift reminders (internally or to clients)
- Maintain visibility and control across multiple teams or divisions
🧰 When to Use It
Use the Field Schedule when:
- You know the exact day and time a task needs to be completed
- You want to assign the work to a specific person or skillset
- You need workers to clock in/out for accurate time tracking
- You want to ensure shift info and required forms are ready to go
- You’re managing dispatch requests coming from boards or forms
🔄 How It Works
- Shifts can be created:
- Manually by dispatchers
- Automatically via forms (using a Dispatch workflow block)
- From Gantt-planned work using the Dispatch action
- Unassigned shifts are held in a drag-and-drop queue for visual scheduling
- Each shift can include:
- Assigned users or teams
- Project and cost code
- Expected worker types (e.g. electricians, first aid)
- Documents and assigned form templates
- Reminders (internal and external)
- You can also schedule Events, which are non-clockable reminders tied to recurring processes or form completions
🧠 Why It Matters
Labor is one of your most expensive and time-sensitive resources.
If it’s scheduled poorly—or not at all—your entire operation stalls.
The Field Schedule gives you a reliable, visual system for controlling field labor, reducing miscommunication, and ensuring teams have everything they need to execute.
It’s a system that connects planning to the tools your crews actually use—especially on mobile.
