# User Map: Viewing Clock-In/Out Locations in Ontraccr

## **🗺️ User Map: Viewing Clock-In/Out Locations in Ontraccr**

The **User Map** feature in Ontraccr helps administrators visualize where users are clocking in and out from — using GPS snapshots captured by the mobile app. This article explains how to access the map, how data is collected, and what visibility rules apply.

## **🧭 What Is the User Map?**

The User Map is a real-time, visual tool that shows **who is currently active** and where their **last clock-in or clock-out** occurred, based on GPS data.

📌 It is not a live tracking system — it displays only GPS snapshots captured at the moment a user clocks in or out.

## **🚪 How to Access the User Map**

1. Navigate to **Staff > User Map** in the web app.
2. The map will automatically center on your current area.
3. All **users who are active today** and have shared location data will be displayed as markers on the map.

## **📍 What Data Is Shown?**

For each user on the map, you'll see:

- Their name or initials
- Status (clocked in, clocked out)
- GPS location from their most recent clock action

Clicking on a user reveals:

- Location of clock-in or clock-out
- Timestamp of the action

## **📱 How Is GPS Captured?**

- Ontraccr captures **GPS coordinates** only at the moment a user:
    - Clocks in
    - Clocks out
- These snapshots are taken by the **Ontraccr mobile app**, assuming the user has:
    - The mobile app installed
    - Location sharing enabled
    - Granted location permissions to the app

⚠️ No background tracking or breadcrumbing is performed to protect user privacy and reduce battery usage.

## **🔐 Who Appears on the Map?**

Only users who:

- Are **clocked in or active today**
- Are using the Ontraccr **mobile app**
- Have **location sharing enabled**

…will appear on the map. Others will not show up.

## **🧠 Use Cases**

| Remote crew visibility | See which field workers are clocked in across different regions |
