# Uploading Files & Folders (with User Notifications)

## **📤 Uploading Files & Folders (with User Notifications)**  
 

Ontraccr makes it easy to upload both files and folders into your file storage system. You can even notify specific users when new files are added — so no one misses an update.

## **➕ How to Add a New Folder**

1.  Navigate to any location in your file system
2.  Click **Add Folder** (top-right corner)
3.  Enter a name for your folder and click **Save**
4.  You can now upload files into this folder or configure permissions

## **📁 How to Upload Files**

1.  Go to the folder where you want to upload
2.  Click **Add File** (top-right corner)
3.  Either:
    -   Drag and drop your file directly into the upload area
    -   Or click the upload box to browse your computer and select a file
4.  Click **Save** to complete the upload

## **📣 Notifying Users (Optional)**

Before saving, you’ll see a checkbox labeled **Notify users**.

-   ✅ If selected: Everyone who has permission to view the folder will receive an **email notification** about the uploaded file(s)
-   ❌ If unselected: The file uploads silently, with no notifications sent

💡 Tip: Use this to instantly alert stakeholders when new project files, drawings, or documents are available.

## **🔐 Reminder: Permissions Still Apply**

Users will only receive a notification if:

-   They already have permission to view the folder
-   And you’ve checked the **Notify users** box

📌 Example: If you upload new site drawings to a private project folder and forget to grant access, users won’t be able to view the files — even if they get an email.

-   Use the **Add Folder** and **Add File** buttons to build your file structure
-   You can drag and drop or browse files from your device
-   Use the **Notify users** checkbox to trigger instant email updates
-   Uploads respect existing permissions — only authorized users will be notified or able to view
