# Showing List Index Position in Ontraccr Boards

## 🧮 **Showing List Index Position in Ontraccr Boards**

### **Overview**

In **List View**, you can enable index numbers to show the **position of each card** in its status column. This helps with **ordering, prioritizing, and tracking** cards in workflows where sequence matters — such as queues, ranking systems, or task checklists.

## 🎯 **Why Use Index Positioning?**

Showing list index positions is helpful when:

- You want to know the **exact order** of cards within a status
- You need a **ranked workflow** (e.g., first-in-first-out, priority queues)
- You want a **quick visual reference** in List View
- You’re reviewing task progress or service queues by sequence

## 🧠 **Tips & Edge Cases**

- This feature is **only visible in List View**, not Card or Timeline views
- Use it to **spot bottlenecks** or determine which cards have been sitting longest
- Combine with **Time in Status** (see Sort options) for even deeper insights
- Ideal for **task-focused teams** or high-volume queues
