# Launching Forms from Equipment Profiles

## **🚀 Launching Forms from Equipment Profiles**

## 📘 **Overview**

Ontraccr makes it easy to launch relevant forms—such as inspections, maintenance checklists, or service reports—**directly from an equipment profile**. This speeds up data collection and ensures the correct equipment is automatically linked to the form.

This article explains how mapped forms work, how to launch them on web and mobile, and what gets auto-filled when doing so.

## **📋 What Are Mapped Forms?**

Mapped forms are forms that have been **pre-associated with specific equipment types** (via settings). Once mapped:

- They appear directly in the equipment profile
- They can be launched with **one click**
- The equipment is auto-filled into the form

See the “Forms Mapped to Equipment Types” article for setup instructions.

## **🖥️ Launching a Form (Web)**

To launch a mapped form from a profile:

1. Open the **Equipment Page**
2. Click on an equipment profile
3. In the **top-right corner**, click the **form icon**
4. A list of **pre-mapped forms** will appear
5. Select a form and click **Continue**
6. The form will open with the equipment already filled in

2. Tap into an equipment profile
3. Tap the **form icon** in the top-right corner

✅ Works identically to the web flow, optimized for field usage.

## **🧠 What Gets Auto-Populated?**

When launching from an equipment profile:

- If the form includes an **Equipment dropdown** (`Choose One or More → Equipment`), it will be pre-filled with the current equipment
- Any **custom fields** captured in the profile (e.g., engine type, serial number) will **auto-populate** into the form, if the form includes those mapped fields

## **🧪 Use Case Example**

**Scenario**: You have an `Excavator` type with a mapped form called `Weekly Safety Inspection`.

- A technician scans the QR code on-site
- The equipment profile opens on their mobile app
- They tap the **form icon**
- The `Weekly Safety Inspection` form is launched
- The excavator is auto-filled
- The technician fills out the checklist and submits
