# Filtering and Searching for Projects in Ontraccr

## 🔎 **Filtering and Searching Projects in Ontraccr Overview**

When you're managing a growing list of projects, **quickly finding what you need** becomes critical.

Ontraccr’s **Search** and **Filter** tools on the Projects page help you **zero in** on exactly the projects you're looking for — without endless scrolling.

## 🎯 **What You Can Do**

- **Search** by Project Name or Project Number
- **Filter** by:
    - Active vs. Archived status
    - Contract Status (Active, Expiring Soon, Expired)
    - Project Type (custom categories you define)

* * *

## 🔎 **How Search Works**

At the top of the Projects page, you’ll find the **Search Bar**.

- **Start typing** a project name or number.
- As you type, matching projects **instantly appear**.

✅ **Bonus**: You can search partial names or numbers — no need to type full words.

## 🎛️ **How to Use Filters**

Filters give you **superpower control** over what’s shown in your project list.

1. Click the **Filter** button (button at the top right).
2. Choose from these filter options:
    - **Active** Projects
    - **Archived** Projects
    - **Contract Status**:
        - Active Contracts
        - Expiring Soon
        - Expired
    - **Project Type** (custom categories like "Service Work," "Commercial Build," etc.)
3. Select or deselect checkboxes to customize your view.

## 🧠 **Tips & Edge Cases**

**Stack Filters Together**:

Example: You can view only **Archived** projects that have an **Expired Contract** by checking both filters at once.

**Active is Default**:

When no filters are applied, Ontraccr shows only **Active projects** by default.

**Need Archived Projects?**

Always remember to **uncheck Active** and **check Archived** to hide your current active jobs.

**Project Type Filters**:

You can create your own Project Types under **Settings > Customization > Types** if you want better organization.

## ✅ **Example Scenario**

You need to find all "Commercial" projects that have an expiring contract soon.

Here's how you do it:

- Click **Filter**.
- Check **Expiring Soon Contracts**.
- Check **Project Type: Commercial**.
- Voilà — list narrowed down!
