## 🧱 **Use Case: Why Use Project Types?**

Project Types allow you to tailor Ontraccr to multiple construction workflows:

| Type | Use Case Example |
| --- | --- |
| **Commercial TI** | Uses custom board templates for RFIs and a specific cost code template. |
| **Service Work** | Has fewer tabs, no contract tab, and different task templates. |
| **Maintenance** | Applies a recurring schedule template and includes a specialized inspection form. |

## ✅ **Tips and Edge Cases**

- **Required for Tab Customization**: Tabs are controlled per project type—so define types first before editing tab visibility.
- **Consistency**: Standardize type names to avoid confusion across teams.
- **Can’t Rename Defaults**: The default “Project” type can be edited but not removed—create new types as needed.
